ABOUT WHAT I DO
With my background in architecture and graffiti (amongst others) one could assume that I construct shapes and cover them with paint - which, although technically true, is metaphorically wrong - because deep down there is something else happening, I always knew that.
I am not an architect, i am not a sculptor nor a painter. I am the archaeologist stumbling through remote landscapes of my inner world and unearthing these relics from my subconscious - layer by layer. Applying the countless transparent coats of colour is actually revealing something that was hidden away and covered by the sediment and dust of the ages like an antique fresco.
So these works are not primarily mine to take credit for. I excavated them and cleaned them up, I mounted them up and gave them names, but they were not really created by me. They are ambassadors of many different times and places, ideas, concepts, feelings, intuitions, nature and poetry, music, philosophy and so many more.
I believe that there is a very universal and widely spread misconception:
We do not make art - we find it.
Our egos are trying to convince us to claim them as ours. When in fact we are walking on the shoulders of giants.
